In Costa Rica there are two types of sloths, which are identified as having two fingers or three fingers.
If you look up into our beautiful sky, in the tree branches, you can see them. Not in all the trees in our country, but in trees where there is forest, beaches or mountains. Sloths spend most of their time there. They look for a tree that can provide them with food and water, and with this, they also avoid their predators.
They enjoy sleeping and moving among the branches of trees.
Cute sloths eat leaves with a slowness that will surprise you to see how slowly they eat. Their giant and slow-working stomach allows them to digest their food over 5 hours (it’s the time they stay awake).
——————————————– CURIOUS FACT —————————————–
You can’t miss for a second their strange wig-like hair. Their long, shaggy hair helps them to pass relatively unnoticed in their surroundings. Small algae grow on their fur which camouflages them with the foliage in tropical forests. If you look carefully, the color of their hair is light green during rainy season, which causes them to be easily confused with vegetation
Costa Rica now focuses its efforts toward the protection of animals and it is not for nothing. We are enriched by many mammal species that have become extinct in other countries.
