December 19, 2016. The Zika virus should not be an impediment for national and foreign tourists to visit the various tourist attractions in Costa Rica.
Our country has highly consolidated protocols for the prevention and control of diseases; which is why the spread of the disease has been controlled, as the reported cases have been promptly addressed.
It is noteworthy that we are starting the dry season, a time when there is a downward trend in the spread of this virus.
The Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) and the Ministry of Health have worked hand in hand with the tourism sector and coastal municipalities to enhance protective measures against the Zika virus, ensuring that our country continues to be considered a safe destination for vacationers.
“In the coming days, the high tourist season will begin, and we are confident that if we follow the recommendations of the Health entities, we will have a more successful season than in previous years,” said Mauricio Ventura, Minister of Tourism.
Both institutions are calling for compliance with relevant actions to reinforce cleaning processes, eliminate breeding grounds, and take extra measures in all tourism and gastronomic establishments, which have a special interest in the health and economic well-being of their area of influence.
